SCIENCE INTERN

Internship Description:

Umbria Inc. is inviting intern applications from students who would like to work on cutting-edge web mining technology. Our science team focuses on advanced text analysis of vast amounts of data, scalable information retrieval, learning semantic concepts, sentiment and demographic analysis, and lots of cool new stuff.

Requirements:

• CS/Informatics major.
• Strong experience with: Java/C++, Ruby/Ruby on Rails/Python, MySQL, bash, wikis in Linux/Windows/MacOS environments.
  Excellent understanding of data structures.
• Interest in statistical/machine learning, natural language processing—sentiment/opinion, text clustering and categorization.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with scientific computing on large datasets, natural language processing, information extraction, information retrieval, graph analysis, distributed systems is a plus.
• Enthusiasm for solving challenging problems.
